Lamination process

The laminated process of laminated glass mainly includes two types: dry and wet methods:

Dry lamination (PVB/EVA process): Using PVB (polyvinyl butyral) or EVA (ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer) intermediate film, the glass is permanently bonded to the film through high temperature (130-140 ℃) and high pressure (1.1-1.3MPa) treatment, forming a highly transparent (light transmittance>90%) and impact resistant structure. Its PVB film thickness is usually 0.38-1.52mm, which can absorb impact energy and prevent fragment splashing, increasing safety by more than 200%.

Wet laminating: Injecting liquid glue (such as polyurethane resin) between two pieces of glass, naturally curing or heating curing, with lower cost but weaker bonding strength (<1MPa) and durability than dry process, suitable for non load bearing scenarios.

Material selection

Glass substrate: Float glass (surface waviness ≤ 0.01mm/m) or LOW-E glass (emissivity ≤ 0.15) should be preferred, and the thickness combination should match the load-bearing requirements

(such as 5mm+5mm or 6mm+8mm).

Intermediate membrane:

PVB film: Excellent optical performance (refractive index 1.48 close to glass), UV resistance (UV barrier rate>99%), suitable for car windshields or high-rise buildings;

EVA film: high flexibility (elongation at break>400%), low temperature resistance (-50 ℃ without hardening), suitable for irregulAR Glass or decorative scenes.

Additional functional materials: To enhance sound insulation, multi-layer films (such as PVB+acoustic damping adhesive) can be stacked to increase the sound insulation volume to over 45dB.

Summary: Dry lamination uses PVB as the core to achieve high strength and safety, while wet lamination meets simple requirements at low cost; The compatibility between the substrate and the intermediate film is the key to balancing performance and cost.
